Workshop on Fundamentals of Proteogenomics for Beginners

Center for Systems Biology and Molecular Medicine (CSBMM) at Yenepoya Research Centre (YRC) is an advanced multidisciplinary research center with state-of-art infrastructure to carry out genomics, proteomics, proteogenomics and metabolomics investigations. Proteogenomics is an application of mass spectrometry-derived proteomic data for the annotation of genome. It allows us to improve the genomic information of organisms using proteomic data. It can help in the discovery of several novel and revised forms of genes, which are usually missed by the computational annotation of genome. As a part of the academic program of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), scientists at CSBMM will share their expertise in the proteogenomics and mass spectrometry data analysis to highly motivated young researchers in India through this intensive workshop. CSBMM is one among the 18 institutes selected by K-Tech, Government of Karnataka for hosting Biotechnology Skill Enhancement Programme (BiSEP) to prepare the students with industry ready skill sets. CSBMM offers "Post Graduate Diploma in Multiomics Technology" under BiSEP course. This workshop is jointly organised by CSBMM, YRC under the aegis of BiSEP (K-tech, Government of Karnataka).

Benefits of the workshop:

As a part of this 3-day long intensive hands-on training, we will introduce, demonstrate and provide theoretical underpinnings of high-resolution mass spectrometry-based proteomic technologies and its application to proteogenomics. Each participant will be exposed to various bioinformatics strategies and software used in annotation of protein-coding genes for any given genome.
