Workshop on NextGen-based Whole Genome Sequencing, Assembly and Annotation

July 18-20, 2019, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Mangalore, India

Center for Systems Biology and Molecular Medicine (CSBMM) is a premier center for genomics, proteomics, metabolomics and computational biology. CSBMM is one among the 18 institutes selected by K-Tech,Government of Karnataka for hosting Biotechnology Skill Enhancement Programme (BiSEP) to prepare the students with industry ready skill sets.CSBMM offers "Post Graduate Diploma in Multiomics Technology" under BiSEP course. The scientists at CSBMM are carrying out cutting edge research by employing NextGen sequencing (NGS)-based genomics and transcriptomics to understand and enable biomedical discoveries intended towards translation in the areas of clinical and biomedical research. As a part of the academic program at Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) and BiSEP activities, scientists at CSBMM will share their expertise in NGS-based genomic data analysis with young researchers in India through this workshop. This workshop is jointly organised by CSBMM, YRC under the aegis of BiSEP (K-tech, Government of Karnataka).

Benefits of the workshop:

As a part of this 3-day intensive training, we will introduce, demonstrate and provide theoretical underpinnings of NextGen sequencing-based genomics. Each participant will gain hands-on training to assess and apply quality control, to perform alignment of WGS data against reference database followed by subsequent variant identification and functional annotation.

Poster presentation:

Submissions for research posters are cordially invited from the participants and the selected posters will be awarded cash prizes along with certificates.
